Personalized Stroller Cup Holder – 3D-Printed for Maximum Comfort and Long-Lasting Use
Sometimes even the simplest needs are hard to meet with off-the-shelf products. That’s exactly the situation my client faced – they needed a cup holder for a baby stroller that was no longer available for purchase. So I offered a custom design and 3D-printing solution.
From Idea to Model
The client gave me the original, broken cup holder, so I could get to work quickly. Instead of copying the original 1:1, I decided to improve it – focusing on better ergonomics, durability, and comfort of use.
In SolidWorks I designed a new holder that’s both lightweight and stable. Every detail mattered: the mounting method, the fit to the cup’s diameter, and overall usability. Thanks to the digital 3D model, I could accurately predict how the holder would perform in real use.

Preparing for 3D Printing
Once the model was ready, I exported it as an STP file and optimized it for 3D printing. I printed the first version in PLA-CF filament (PLA reinforced with carbon fiber) – stiff and with a clean surface finish, which made it ideal for a test print.
The final version, however, is planned in PETG, which copes better with moisture, UV radiation, and temperature swings. That matters, because the holder is used outdoors, in changing weather – so the final part will be not only well-fitted but also far more durable.
The print itself went smoothly. I tuned the settings for a smooth surface and high functional strength, and the finished holder was ready for an immediate test fit.

Final Result
After a quick clean-up, the holder was ready to hand over to the client. The new part not only replaced the original but also improved everyday comfort.

In Conclusion
This project is a good example of how 3D printing lets me create tailored, practical solutions – quickly, precisely, and without needless compromises. The damaged original was no obstacle: thanks to accurate measurements, I could recreate a part perfectly suited to the user’s needs.
